Penang: June 13th - 23rd
Johor Bahru: June 27th - 30th

What a great pleasure to introduce you to the 2023 edition of the French Festival! French cinema and literature will be acclaimed with The Three Musketeers, a film adaptation of Dumas' prominent work. A must-watch cloak and dagger movie presented for the very first time in Asia!
Besides cinema, the festival will also showcase concerts with Fête de la musique, staged performances, gourmet discoveries, and many other activities that will allow you to enjoy the best of contemporary French culture. And for the very first time ever, the festival will be presented in Kuching: we are thrilled to share cheerful moments with our friends from Sarawak.
I would like to congratulate all those without whom any of this would be possible: the two Alliances françaises in Kuala Lumpur and Penang, Golden Screen Cinema, L'Oréal Paris and all our other partners. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!

Once again we are delighted to bring you the much anticipated Le French Festival, which will be celebrated throughout May to June in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru. Notably, this year marks the first time ever we set our foot in Kuching, Sarawak.
While reveling in this momentous occasion, we are also thrilled to announce that Alliance Française globally will celebrate its 140th anniversary. This year, Le French Festival will have many surprises in store for you for all ages, with our main highlight bringing you the best of recent French cinema releases.
The festival will also include the popular Fête de la Musique, as well as ‘art de vivre à la française’ where we can discover how French flavours can be combined with the rich and diverse Malaysian cuisine. Wishing you a lovely Le French Festival celebration.

events centred around the best contemporary French cinema, with films for every taste and every age.
Le French Festival is a true celebration of French culture and its ties with Malaysia. Specifically in Penang, this year’s programme includes a concert and a digital exhibition. We also invite you to join our French heritage walk to explore the many places on our island that are connected to France.
