Is the Médiatheque open to the public?

Feel free to explore the library, enjoy onsite reading, and utilize our workspaces with convenient computer plugs.
However, book borrowing privileges are exclusive to members for those who wish to take them home.

Can I eat or drink at the Médiatheque?

For the preservation of books and maintaining a conducive environment, kindly refrain from eating or drinking within the library premises.

Can I borrow books when the Médiatheque is closed?

No but you can reserve your books using our Online Catalogue and collect them once they are ready! Don't forget also to explore the online platform Culturethèque, accessible 24/24, 7/7! Check out our detailed guide to borrowing books online by scrolling below!

How do I view my loans?

Go to https://www.alliancefrancaise.org.my/af/library/ and click on the icon My Library after entering your login details.
Should it be the first time for you to login, click on “Lost Password”, enter the email address linked to your library account and follow the procedure.

How do I extend my loans if I have not finished the books I have borrowed?

Your AFKL Membership allows you to borrow items for 2 weeks, and renew them for two more weeks (only 1 extension is allowed). You can renew items by sending a Whatsapp text at +6011-5429 7880 or by emailing the librarian..

What is Culturethèque?

Culturethèque is a free online French library with more than 120 000 items to connect with French culture.
Accessible anytime, from anywhere, you can explore a diverse collection of eBooks, comic books, children's picture books, magazines, and resources for learning French. Beyond that, as a multimedia library, you can enjoy free access to concerts, interviews, and cartoons all within a single online portal. Check it out here!

How does it work?

1. Become a member.

First, you need to be a member of AFKL! If you are a student with us, you are a member already. Should you have any doubt or question, please ask our librarian.

2. Log in into your account.

Please register with your usual login details. Should it be the first time for you to login, click on “Lost Password”, enter the email address linked to your library account and follow the procedure.If any doubt or difficulty, our librarian will be happy to assist you.

3.Visit our online catalogue.

You may find the online catalogue under the Library tab under Services.
You can choose books using the filters.
Kindly note that only books from Filter “Library: AFKL Gurney” can be borrowed.

4. Reserve your book.

Click on “Reserve” when you are interested in a book.
Reminder: with an Individual membership,
you can borrow 3 novels, 3 magazines, 3 comics, 2 DVDs.
With a Family membership : 6 novels, 6 magazines, 6 comics, 4 DVDs

5. Confirm your selection.

Adjust and Confirm your selection: To access your reservation cart, click on the button “In your reservation cart” of one of the books you selected already.
You will see the books you selected, you can remove some of them if you changed your mind. Then, click on “Confirm Reservation”

6. Your books will be ready the following working day.

You have two options to collect the books:
1st option : you pick them from our Lorong Gurney centre
Opening hours : Tuesday to Fri : 10am – 6pm
Saturday : 9am – 5pm
2nd option : you can organise a Grab Delivery pick up, please inform our Librarian that you would like this option and she will liaise with you to organise it.

7. Don't forget to return your books.

You can return them at centre or via a Grab Delivery during opening hours.

Kindly inform the librarian via Whatsapp before organizing a Grab delivery.
