Let’s jump into a one and a half month long cultural experience, made up of movie screenings, visual arts, performing arts, family and kids activities, workshops, gastronomy discoveries…
Travelling from Western to Eastern Malaysia, the 2024 edition of the French Festival will tour across four different cities:
Kuala Lumpur: May 29th - July 14th
Penang: June 13th - 23rd
Johor Bahru: June 27th - 30th
Kuching: July 4th - July 7th
Bonjour! We are thrilled to be back once again to light up Malaysia with our 22nd edition of Le French Festival 2024.
This year Le French Festival celebrates exciting cross-cultural programmes, showcasing 16 highly-acclaimed French movies - from Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru to Kuching - movie enthusiasts can immerse themselves in a diverse lineup of French films that promise to captivate and inspire. Another highlight this year that I am personally looking forward to, is we will be hosting electrifying breaking battles (with award-winning b-boy and b-girl dancers), in conjunction with the excitement of the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris 2024 as Breaking will become the first dance sport ever to debut at the Games. It's going to be a thrilling fusion of sports, culture, and entertainment. This year's Le French Festival will kick off from May 29th all the way up to July 14th Bastille Day for our closure. You won't want to miss all the fun and action!
On behalf of the Alliance Française de Kuala Lumpur, the French Festival team, our sponsors and partners, I wish you a wonderful festival!
This year's French Festival in Penang is set to be an engaging and enlightening affair.
We will commence with the "Pour la beauté du geste" photography exhibition and masterclass by Serge Périchon at Alliance Française de Penang. For outdoor activities, one can anticipate the Pétanque tournament and French Heritage Trail, delving into the historical significance of French culture in Penang. A highlight of the Festival is the Fête de la Musique concert by Marsu, celebrating the universal appeal of French music in a vibrant atmosphere. For families looking for entertainment, Le Petit Festival at Gurney Plaza will offer a variety of activities and films to enjoy together.
Wrapping up the festivities is a movie experience with a curated selection of 16 films, ranging from adventurous epics to heartwarming comedies, each offering a glimpse into French storytelling, history, and creativity.
