The session will begin with a short, easy-to-follow introduction to composting, covering the basics and common household methods.
This will be followed by a guided practical session where participants will get their hands dirty (in a fun way!).
Each adult participant will receive a compost kit and create their own compost to bring home. Aprons and gloves will be provided.
Led by Dr. Huszalina Hussin from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM),
this workshop is suitable for beginners and anyone curious about reducing food waste and living more sustainably in urban
environments. Come learn something new, connect with others, and take home a small but meaningful step towards greener living 🌱
Biography of Dr. Huszalina Hussin
Dr. Huszalina Hussin is a research lecturer at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), where she obtained her Ph.D in
Biosciences and currently coordinates the Mix Mode MSc (Biotechnology) program. She is also an academic and consultant for Iskandar
Puteri City Council (MBIP),
working on sustainability projects in collaboration with UNDP and GEF. Her research focuses on recycling
and transforming organic waste into compost fertilisers, and she leads long-term community programmes in composting and urban agriculture,
including the Iskandar Puteri Agriculturalist Community (IPAC).
