D’un monde à l’autre by Hervé Conan
Step into the imaginative world of French artist Hervé Conan in D’un monde à l’autre, his first international exhibition, held from 13 May to 13 June 2025 at Alliance Française de Kuala Lumpur. A sculptor and painter trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rennes, Conan blends charcoal, watercolour, pastel, bronze, and crystal to explore the boundaries between form and emotion. His works invite viewers to journey from one world to another—where lines, colours, and shapes unlock deeper, abstract layers of our inner lives.
Colours of Exile by Clément Baloup
Explore the emotional landscape of exile through the drawings of French-Vietnamese artist Clément Baloup, taken from his acclaimed graphic novel series Mémoires de Viet Kieu. This exhibition brings together powerful testimonies of the Vietnamese diaspora—stories of loss, identity, memory, and resilience—told through vibrant visuals, personal voices, and the quiet poetry of food, colour, and everyday life. Divided into three immersive sections—Words, Food, and Shapes & Colours—the exhibition invites visitors to reflect on how people uprooted by war and history reconnect with their homeland through language, cuisine, and emotion. At once intimate and universal, Colours of Exile gives form to memories often left unspoken.

About the Artists :
Born in Saint-Brieuc, France in 1947, Hervé Conan is a painter and sculptor whose work explores the relationship between form, space, and perception. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Rennes, he trained under the esteemed sculptor Francis Pellerin before establishing his career as an art teacher in Nantes. He now lives and works in Touraine, France. Conan’s artistic practice spans multiple media—charcoal, watercolour, and pastel for his paintings; bronze and crystal for his sculptures. Rooted in close observation of the natural and organic world, his art invites viewers to look beyond the surface, engaging with a more abstract, emotional interpretation of reality. His work has been exhibited widely across France, and D’un monde à l’autre marks his first international showcase.
Born in 1978 to a French mother and Vietnamese father, Clément Baloup grew up across Europe, Polynesia, and South America. A graduate of the Beaux-Arts Sequential Arts Program in Angoulême, he is a writer and illustrator known for his poignant graphic novel series Mémoires de Viet Kieu. His work blends personal testimony with visual storytelling, earning him the Jury’s Choice Prize at the 2011 Angoulême International Comics Festival. Based in Marseille, Clément’s original artwork has been exhibited worldwide, and he regularly leads graphic novel workshops across Asia, Europe, and the U.S.
