Description: Between March 18th and May 20th 2023, the Alliance Française de Kuala Lumpur will be hosting the exhibition “A Green Alliance - Tales of concrete jungles and inner gardens” by the French artist Marc Goldstain. The public will be able to experience the relationship between urbanity and nature through the artist’s eyes.

Thanks to his “perceptive pedagogy” approach, Goldstain has developed an innovative way of painting, in which he liberates colours and shapes. The Alliance Française is proud to have Marc Goldstain present his works in Malaysia for the first time in his career.

Prior to the exhibition, the artist will be involved in art workshops with young students of AFKL from 5 to 15 years old. This will result in a collective artwork that will be included in the exhibition, as well as works created during his stay in Malaysia.

About the artist: 

Marc Goldstain

Graduated from the École d'arts appliqués Duperré in Paris, which provided him with solid techniques, Marc Goldstain is well-known for his urban landscapes paintings through which he treats the ordinary with a formalist style, imitating our eye’s perception. He finds inspiration in his everyday life in Paris and in his former residencies in Brazil (Brasilia, Belo Horizonte) and in China (Shanghai, Wuhan, Tianjin).

After obtaining a Master’s degree in Perceptual Psychology in 2012, he has been applying the principles of “full presence meditation” (D. Bois). This led him to organise various coloured-portraits marathons. Since 2020, Marc has started exploring a brand new pictorial potential through his last series which channels his magical “colour” energy. He is currently represented by the Art Now Projects gallery in Geneva.

'Une Alliance verte' exhibition is open to the public from 9AM-5PM on Mondays-Saturdays until May 27th 2023. 
Closed on Sundays and public holidays.
