Le French Festival
Since 2001, Le French Festival (formerly named as French Art & Film Festival) is an eagerly anticipated event on the annual Malaysian cultural agenda. With a 15-year track record of providing audiences in Malaysia with an immersive experience into French culture, the festival continues to grow in both audience reach as well as programme variety.
A privileged platform of expression for French arts and a momentum for cultural exchanges, the festival showcases various artistic fields encompassing cinema, performing arts, visual arts and gastronomy – each of them featuring both emerging and renowned artists.
The French Film Festival, the largest European film festival in Malaysia, presents each year a selection the best of contemporary releases in participating Golden Screen Cinemas halls.
This eclectic programing has allowed the festival to gather a wide audience of about 13,000 patrons in 2017.
Organised by Alliance Française and the Embassy of France in Malaysia, and supported by the Institut Français, the festival is, as it has been since its debut, presented by Martell. With the roots and cornerstone of the festival being the Film Festival in partnership with Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC), this year marks the first time that the Film Festival will be presented in 4 cities - Klang Valley, Penang, Kota Kinabalu and for the first time in 2018, Johor Bahru. Besides celebrating French culture, the festival also aims to promote and support French trade and tourism.
Such a programme is possible thanks to the constant support of sponsors, partner organisations, volunteers and of the audience whose commitment to stand beside the organisers shall be underlined.
