The session will start with a book excerpt reading by French comedian Grégory Henno and will be followed by a dialog between Amir Muhammad, publisher of the book, HE Frédéric Laplanche, Ambassador of France to Malaysia and Hélène Ly-Batallan, translator of the texts presented in the book. They will discuss the works of Jeanne Cuisinier as well as her experience in Kelantan in the 1930s and the impressions she has drawn from in.

Book Synopsis:

French ethnologist Jeanne Cuisinier explored Malaya, mostly Kelantan, in 1932 and 1933.
In her lectures on Radio Paris— made public in this book for the first time since their broadcast in 1935
— and in other texts assembled here, she shared her vivid and affectionate insights into the diverse
cultures of Malaya, providing precious and thought-provoking perspectives to today’s readers
